Ceftiofur Sodium is the sodium salt form of ceftiofur, a semisynthetic, beta-lactamase-stable, broad-spectrum, third-generation cephalosporin with antibacterial activity. Ceftiofur binds to and inactivates penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located on the inner membrane of the bacterial cell wall.
Therapeutic Action
Ceftiofur is used in the treatment of respiratory infections in cattle and pigs.It is registered for treatment of respiratory disease and interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot) in lactating cows in many countries. Ceftiofur has been used for treatment of salmonella in calves.
